What is HPS?
Hydroxypropyl Starch Ether (HPS) is a modified starch additive. It is used in tile adhesives, wall putty and mortar to adjust consistency and improve handling.
Main functions
- Reduces mortar sag and tile slip during wall application.
- Makes mortar easier to mix, spread and trowel.
- Reduces separation and bleeding to help keep the mortar uniform.
Common uses
HPS is used in tile adhesives, wall putty, plaster mortar and exterior insulation mortar. It can also be used with HPMC and RDP.
