Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic cellulose ether added to cement-based and gypsum-based building materials.

Main Functions

• Retains water so the wet mix does not dry out too quickly.
• Thickens the mix and makes it easier to spread, trowel and finish.
• Helps mortar resist sagging and helps wall tiles resist slipping during installation.
• Helps extend the time available to place tiles after the adhesive has been spread.

Uses

Tile adhesives, plastering mortars, masonry mortars, insulation mortars, repair mortars, wall putties and gypsum-based products.
